Stuffed

As I was walking through the streets towards Low Yat Plaza with my besties, I had an urge to lift up my head to look at the sky above me. And I realised something: that expand of sky that I was able to see was just limited and small.

The high-rises and skyscrapers were all around me, I was limited to see just about 30 meters. My view was completely blocked and veiled.

I guess sometimes our lives are also like the streets of Kuala Lumpur. We kept ourselves stuffed with stuffs that at times hinder us to see the bigger picture of God. Limited by the buildings of our worries and needs, we cannot see what's beyond the things of our lives. We are so stuffed with stuffs, God became unsavory. We are so full, we do not hunger for God. We are too stuffed to have any appetite for God and His Word.

The weakness of our hunger for God is not because he is unsavory, but because we keep ourselves stuffed with “other things.” - A Hunger for God by John Piper
That is one of the reason why Christians fast: because fasting keeps us away from the desirable gifts of God, that we may turn our appetite to God and God alone.
