I Will Be Exalted

God is our refuge and strength,    a very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear though the earth gives way,    though the mountains be moved into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam,    though the mountains tremble at its swelling.     Selah “Be still, and know that I am God.    I will be exalted among the nations,    I will be exalted in the earth!” The Lord of hosts is with us;    the God of Jacob is our fortress.     Selah    Psalm 46:1-3, 10-11 Psalm 46 is my anchor psalm whenever I am faced with nervousness and failure. I religiously recite this portion of the psalm every time before I take the pulpit. There are also moments in my service to the Lord that I needed this psalm to keep me forward and fearless. Indeed God has been my refuge and strength throughout my 7 gracious years of journey with Him. He has brought me through various hardships and sweetness, experiences and encounters, desperation and abundance. I encountered Him

The Preparation

Last night, Sok Yeng approached me to ask several questions of Financing, a small portion of her course requirement. As engineering students, we are required to understand how financing works and support our line of work. With what little finance and economy knowledge that I have, I did my best to explain debt and tax to her. The discussion continued beyond her subject as she became more curious as we proceed. Joanna was quietly listening to my explanations on stock market, share trading, foreign currency exchange, interest rates and  currency creation process. I explained to them how people make gain their wealth by gathering them from people who are willing to lose them, how the government controls inflation rate, how banks creates currency that are just numbers. Joanna lost me somewhere along the way because there were some economical terms that are pretty hard to understand.
